Guernsey Victor Hugo International Music Festival

Our first full band gig of the 2008-09 season was a little different from the norm - we travelled to Guernsey to play for a Sunday evening ceilidh as part of the Guernsey Victor Hugo International Music Festival.  The previous night had found us in Pont Street, and having found our fingers again after the summer recess it was straight into FAST playing for the ceilidh.  We had a great time, and judging by the hoots of joy from the dance floor so did the dancers.

The Guernsey hospitality was splendid too.  After a drink in our host's home bar (we all agreed we should have something similar ourselves) and an excellent midday meal we took a trip to a neighbour's house to view an old German bunker from the war years.  This one was very well preserved and the stencilled lettering in German on the whitewashed walls made the war seem very close.

After the dance the hospitality continued with a midnight feast and some very fine whiskies on offer - Balvenie and Scapa.  Our hosts really did know how to throw a party.  There was then just enough time to grab a few hours sleep before an early rise on Monday morning to catch the 7am 'red-eye' commuter flight back to the mainland.  What a fantastic weekend.
